Three hundred National Service
Scheme Volunteers of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University participated in the 68th
Independence Day Celebrations organized by the Dean (Agriculture).
Dr.K.Ramasamy, Vice Chancellor, TNAU hoisted the National flag and gave special
address in which he remembered the fight of forefathers for our today’s
position and still we have to go a long way to improve the agriculture which is
the backbone of our economy. Only an agriculturally flourishing country can be
a superpower.
Honour from NCC Volunteers and
inspected the NSS Volunteers and school children from TNAU campus.
Dr.S.Mahimairaja, Dean (Agriculture), University Officers, NSS Coordinator
Dr.K.Kumutha and Staff members participated.
Dr.M.R.Latha, Dr.K.Hemaprabha
and Dr.R.Paavendan, NSS Programme Officers organised competitions for
Independence day. In the solo patriotic song competition, Ms.Amrita, I
B.S.(ABM), Ms.Abaraajitha, I B.S.(ABM) and Ms.Sivaranjani, I B.Tech(Biotech)
secured first, second and third prizes. In the tamil essay writing competition
on “Desa munnetrathil Ilaignargalin Pangu”, Ms.Jayabharathi, II B.Tech (EEE),
Ms.K.Rajeswari, II B.Tech (FPE) and Ms.C.Anees Fathima, II B.Sc. (Agri.)
secured first, second and third prizes respectively. Ms. Reshma, II B.Sc (Agri)
secured first, two volunteers Ms.Manjusha, II B.Tech(FPE) and Ms.K.Lalitha, II
B.Tech (Biotech) secured second prize and third prize by Ms. G.T.Shivane, II
B.Tech (EEE) in English Essay writing competition on the topic “Role of youth
in nation building”.
Hon’ble Vice Chancellor
distributed the certificates for prize winners and also the certificate of
appreciation for 50 blood donors who donated blood for life saving noble cause
in blood donation camp organised on 9th August 2014 with Coimbatore
Medical College and Hospital. NSS Volunteers performed a cultural programme
including traditional dance , Baduga dance and Bharathanatyam.
